We are very excited to announce the release of Canaille’s sophomore album Practical Men. The work of our close friend Jeremy Strachan has been very closely tied to Standard Form over the years, in fact it was the printing of the first album by his Feuermusik project that gave us the kick in the ass to start this crazy business.

This album has been over a year in the making and is the height of achievement for all those involved, it features Strachan’s most ambitious arrangements to date and fiery performances from all the players. Producer/engineer Jeff McMurrich has returned to his jazz tracking roots and captured the quintet with a sound that easily stands besides Mile Davis’ electric era. The vinyl version of the album is especially humbling as we went to great lengths of press it with audiophile quality.

With the bar being set that high, we were excited to accept the challenge to design and print the packaging. We’ve been on a pretty good roll with some very special projects as late (pics coming soon!), but this one in particular left us with a sense of accomplishment unlike any other. We’ll save the technical specs of the project for a future posting, but for now we wanted to share pics of the completed vinyl jackets and let everyone know that their first chance to purchase them will be at the show.

This release also marks the beginning of our newest imprint: Komino Records (impoved website coming soon!), a record label focused on experimental musical practices. The evening will also feature a rare set from another good friend I am Robot and Proud. It’s going to be a very exciting evening, we hope you will join us!
