Kyle Bobby Dunn Plays Toronto

Kyle Bobby Dunn, friend and contributor to our Rural Routes series, is playing a rare show in Toronto and we are excited to invite everyone out to it. The performance, a duo with Benoit Pioulard, will take place on November 1st at the Drake Hotel. The evening will also feature performances from Ken Camden and A Winged Victory for the Sullen. Hope to see you there!

Ken Camden
Ken Camden is a Chicago based guitarist whose favorite themes include diversity, transcendence, and joy. He is also a member of the rock unit Implodes.

Benoit Pioulard
Since a young age, 27-year old Oregon resident Thomas Meluch has been fascinated with the sounds of nature and tape decay—through almost a decade of recordings, he has fostered an infatuation with a sort of sonic density that combines remnants of pop song structures with the lushness and unpredictability of field recordings. A veteran drummer of a half dozen bands, Meluch chose guitar and voice as the primary instruments for his work as Benoît Pioulard.

Kyle Bobby Dunn
Born in Ontario, Canada in 1986, Dunn composes paradoxical and haunting pieces for organ, strings, guitar, piano, and other classical instrumentation, often processed digitally and tinted with elements of droning feedback. There is a mournful and melancholy element to his songs. A sense of passion but hopelessness. His sounds “encourage an emotional response even as its seemingly infinite, creeping swirl and hum threatens to numb. A difficult feat.”

A Winged Victory for the Sullen
A compositional collaboration between Stars of the Lid member, Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie, and pianist Dustin O’Halloran. Together they craft emotive suites of slow evolving beauty and sadness. Their debut release was just made available by Kranky (US) and Erased Tapes (EU).
